First Economic Forum Between Italy and Kurdistan Region Takes Place

Today, Tuesday 2/11/2025, the first economic forum between Italy and the Kurdistan Region was launched at the Italian Parliament in Rome, aimed at joint work in various sectors and mutual investment. The forum will continue for two days.
The forum was attended by Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Italian Minister of Environment and International Security, Luigi Di Ramo, Undersecretary of the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Roberto Di Ramo, Advisor to the Italian Prime Minister, Begard Talabani, Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Safeen Dizayee, Head of the KRG's Department of Foreign Relations, Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Head of the Investment Board, Mauro Batucci, Representative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairsand, Lawend Mamundi, Executive Board Member and Representative of Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tommaso Sansone, Italian Consul General in Kurdistan, Rezan Qadir Agha, High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy, and Chairman of Sulaymaniyah, Duhok and Halabja Chambers and along with several officials from both governments, investors, and businesspeople from both sides. Several speeches were delivered about expanding and strengthening economic relations between both parties.
Regarding this, Lawend Mamundi, Executive Board Member and Representative of Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated that this forum is being held to transform the strong political relationship between Italy and Kurdistan Region into expanded economic and commercial relations.
Mamundi added that the forum aims to take further steps in utilizing investment opportunities between both sides and enhancing trade relations and exchanges.
On the first day of the forum, an Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Visit Kurdistan and an Italian company to develop the tourism sector in Kurdistan Region, specifically for constructing a tourism project in the Soran area, which is scheduled to begin operations within the next 6 months.
During this conference, Tommaso Sansone, the Italian Consul General in Kurdistan, delivered a speech praising the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, stating that it is a peaceful and stable area with numerous investment opportunities across all sectors, and called on companies and investors from his country to invest in Kurdistan.
